During the Fall, 3 youth we know were sleeping in a public place, close to an electrical outlet for their phone chargers, but hidden in the bushes so they can “keep warm”. That is their normal place to sleep into the winter. They are up early, after warming in the sun, but want to get inside to try to clean up; then off to work or school.
This Spring, you have a chance to help us fundraise and get just a small idea what it’s like to sleep outside, but not for the fun of it. Sleeping Out isn’t about pretending to be homeless. When you are Sleeping Out, you’re not just raising funds and awareness – you’re showing area young people your commitment to help us create an Emergency Youth Shelter in SW Colorado.
